What is a transition?
A transition is a part of the post production process along with film editing. Transitions are used to enhance the film and give the film a good flare and also makes the film look good in terms of editing.
Types of Transition-
Fade-In/Out
This transition is used to depict the end or the beginning of a scene or the film. The frame fades to black or appears form black.
Wipe
A wipe is type of transition where one shot is replaced by another by travelling from side of frame to another in a special shape. A wipe is also known as barn door wipe.
Superimposition
Superimposition is the placement of an image or a video on top of an already-existing image or video which is used to add overall effect in the film.
Long Take
A long take is shot which unfolds in real time for about 8-10 seconds or can be for a much longer duration. This shot doesn't have any cuts.
The film 1917 is known for its incredible long shots which makes the film look like its been shot in a single shot.

Short Take
Short take is the opposite of long take in which there a series of short section shots which only last for a few seconds.
Slow Motion
In a slow motion the pace of the video becomes slower than the real-time for more emphasis on the what is happening in the scene.
Ellipsis
Movement and action unnecessary to the telling of a story will often be removed by editing. A period of time left out in a narrative through editing.
Expansion of Time
Expansion is the opposite of ellipsis. This means to expand the time of the video and making the duration of the video sequence longer than real-time. This is relatively rare as it is not often that for the audience to see something more slowly than it actually happened.
Visual Effects
Visual effects also known as VFX which the abbreviated version is the process by which imagery is created or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot
