What is editing in  a film

Film editing is a technical part of the post production process.In editing the film editors job is to join various shot sand scenes to make a complete finished movie.

Types of editing

Continuity Editing 

Continuity editing is when the viewed footage flows continuously, so that the narrative is clear to the audience. 

Eyeline Match 

An eyeline match is a cut between two oshots in which the first shot shows a person looking off in one direction and the second shot shows either a space containing what he or she sees or a person looking back in exactly the opposite direction. 

Reverse Shot

Reverse shot is a cut showing what the character is looking at, followed by a reverse shot of the character themselves looking at it. 

Action Match 

Action match is a cutting between different views of the same movement in an action without disrupting audience view. 

Jump Cut 

A jump cut is a cut in film editing in which two sequentail shots of  the same subjects are taken from camera positions that way only slightly, 

Cross Cutting 

Cross cutting is when the editor edits two or more different sequences together to show that they are connected.

Parallel Editing 

Parallel editing (cross cutting) is the technique of alternating two or more scenes that often happens simultaneously but in different locations.

Cutaway 

 A cutaway is video scene that cuts away to relevant images or footage. A cutaway is used as a buffer between to add interest and info. 

Insert 

An insert is when the editor inserts s new video clip over top of existing video footage.
