Codes and Convention (part 2)

The list of codes and conventions followed in my opening sequence:

Codes

  • Symbolic codes -
In one of the scene, the lighting of that scene is a red which in the opening sequence portray danger and place where you shouldn't go. Whereas in the real life the filter of red shows love, for example in a room there are red lights which shown as a romantic gesture towards the other person.
shows danger and also an emotion of being cautions .
The main prop for this opening sequence is a black box which in the real life shows that it can be a engagement box with a ring or can also be depicted as a jewelry box but in the opening sequence it has a note in it which appears to be rather confusing and mysterious to the characters.

In both the scenarios the symbolic representation is broken and changed in the opening sequence.
  • Technical codes-
There is a scream sound in a scene which shows that the characters are in danger and want to come out  of the room.

  • Written codes-
Proper credits and acknowledgements are given during the opening sequence.

Conventions

  • Form convention-
The title of the opening sequence appears at the end of the opening sequence rater than in the start of the opening sequence.

  • Story convention
The story of my opening sequence is not shown from any certain point of view as it shows how three characters in three different places and different timings.

Also the cause and the effect is explained in the os, in which the cause is the black box which causes the three characters to meet and the effect is clearly not explained clearly as the only thing shown in my os are the screams.

  • Genre convention
The genre i have chosen is thriller which always had this element of surprise. In the end of the opening sequence a person is shown striking out the picture of the three photographs which shows that someone has orchestrated this whole game on purpose which is an element of surprise and breaks the audience expectations.
